1st TEACHERS AND STUDENTS SYMPOSIUM ON BUTTERFLIES IN SCIENCE AND ARTS

Fact sheet

Project Background:

PLANT A BUTTERFLY is a project which aims to elevate the campaign in raising awareness about conservation and protection of butterflies among young people. We aim to send the message across that BUTTERFLIES AND PLANTS , PLANTS AND BUTTERFLIES NEED EACH OTHER.

We advocate and encourage students to support the campaign actively by engaging themselves in hands-on activity and producing concrete results in this project. We believe that this could result to reaching a wider audience outside the school.

We specifically aim to carry out a collaborative butterfly preservation and conservation project among high school students through a cross-continental classroom in Asia and Europe through the application of Information and Communication Technology tools (ICT).

We aspire to foster a cross-curricular learning thereby uniting different subjects as science, biology, languages and arts.

Objective of the Conference:

The focus of this symposium is to engage teachers in finding out a possibilities of incorporating basic topics on butterflies in biology subject or any other related field of science subjects of high school students.

Furthermore, we would like to promote awareness on butterfly conservation and protection through Arts. We would like to explore creative ways to promote these "charming, charismatic and endlessly fascinating insects".
